This week I will bring you information about the town on the other end of that ride…Silverton, Colorado. Silverton is one of the coolest historic towns in Colorado and the only town left in San Juan County. It also happens to be one of the more affordable towns to buy a vacation home without giving up any of the mountain town amenities.

 

There are not a lot of condos in this town, so I will compare a single-family home with its asking price, average mortgage rate, rental income rate, and life surrounding this beautiful old mining town.

Furthermore from the awesome Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, there is plenty to do in the small, quaint town of Silverton. Some of the most professional skiers and snowboarders, including Shaun White and grace the snow with their skills. The snow is unlike any powder you are likely to see elsewhere. The Notorious Blair Street, famous for being home to over 40 saloons. Brothels at one time is surely an experience you can’t pass up. Not to mention the fact that hundreds of millions of dollars in gold and silver were extracted from the mines nearby.
