Anxiously awaiting the new part of your life as your current living situation becomes more and more uncomfortable.
It’s been one million degrees in Denver for the last few days, and we don’t have air conditioning. But our new house does. Our new house is becoming more and more the oasis in the middle of the desert. Someone stole my parking spot in front of our house and we don’t have a garage. But our new house does. Ahhh. Our new house does.
Really, I cannot tell you how excited I am about moving in to our new house. Our house. Sure the bank owns most of it, but that doesn’t change the fact that we are going to own our little piece of land, in beautiful, family friendly, Lakewood Colorado.
I think owning land is a natural desire- a part of human nature, like wanting to be loved or wanting to be happy. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen Far and Away, but being in closing is that last part, where you are running towards your piece of land. Only instead of running, I’m avoiding packing.
What does it mean to be in contract?
In case you are a first time home buyer like me, you may be wondering what it means to be “in contract.” The non legal, non jargon explanation of being “in contract” means that you and the owner of the home have signed paperwork agreeing that they will sell their home to you. It is the waiting period where all the details get worked out until the keys are handed over to you.
But the point is, buying a home is a really fulfilling thing to work for. I started this process being nervous. Okay, that’s a lie. I was a little terrified. Now, as the process is coming to a close, I am fulfilled.
We are about to own land.
