The CFPB Recommends Working with An buyer’s agent To Protect Your Financial Interests
In their booklet, they highlight the role of working with a real estate agent during your transaction. They warn consumers that while real estate agents may provide helpful advice, they may legally be representing the rights of the seller, not the buyer. They recommend:
It is your responsibility to search for an agent who will represent your interests in the real estate transaction. If you want someone to represent only your interests, consider hiring an “exclusive buyer’s agent”, who will be working for you.”
