What a great series this has been!
Here we are at the last week of my Definitive Guide to Buying a Vacation Home in Colorado. In the past 10 weeks, we have covered Telluride, Silverton, Steamboat Springs, Durango, Keystone, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, and Aspen. Drum roll please….this week’s best Colorado town for a vacation home is…. Winter Park!
Winter Play!
The Winter Park is one of my favorite towns in Colorado. I have spent a lot of time here over the years. The community is a literal melting pot. You can enjoy everything from sushi to pizza, skiing to downhill mountain biking, rafting to dogsledding, and live music to summer festivals.
Nightlife.
The nightlife here is fun as well. The crowds are always welcoming and usually feature local talented bands. There is also a small theater company in town loaded with great actors in an intimate venue. The town is very walkable and there are many hotels right in town, so there is no need to worry about travel.
Dollars and Cents.
So let’s talk about money with buying a vacation home. You can be the proud owner of a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1,058 sqft condo at the base of Winter Park for about $429,000. That is a very realistic price for such an amazing place to live. The monthly mortgage rate on a loan that size would be under $2,000! You can also expect to rent out the unit four around $1,500/month, although many people will rent out their condos on a weekly basis instead.
PRO!
In the first place, always use a professional. Whether you are using an electrician, a plumber, and financial planner, an attorney, or a buyers agent. By using a buyers agent you will know that your agent’s fiduciary duty is to you and only you. In conclusion, they are highly skilled at closing negotiations, and they have many local reliable resources. Call a buyers agent if you are considering buying a vacation home in Winter Park, Colorado.
